Husbandry Institute and
the issues:
At Husbandry Institute, our efforts and commitment to develop
market demand and foster accessibility of meats raised by ecologically
just and socially sustainable practices means that more families
will live in safe environments with access to clean water and
soil, and be able to find meat raised with care to be healthy
and nutritious. It also means that consumers and retailers will
be able to make conscious choices to avoid harmful food and
easily find meat that is free of antibiotics, chemical growth
hormones, and lower in unhealthy fats. As important as this
is to you, your family and friends, these are often choices
for employees, customers, and the environment too.
Bringing back responsible farmers
together:
The dramatic decline in the number of family run farms and
ethical animal agriculture continues while the environment is
polluted and human nutrition suffers. This is extremely alarming
and Husbandry Institute is committed to bridging the disconnect
between our American values and food supply. Industrial animal
confinement operations that subvert social values, not only
by grossly mistreating farm animals but by dumping toxins into
our food supply and the environment cannot continue when consumers
are able to make choices.
We can all help to improve access:
With responsive distribution networks that support regional
animal farmers who practice responsible land stewardship, we
can get more sustainable meats into restaurants and grocery
aisles around the country. When we choose to buy sustainably
raised meat and foods, we each help to create more, higher quality
livelihoods for everyone working in the United States.
